A new cultural-educational foundation, Yayasan Kepustakaan Maharsi Markendeya, has officially launched with a mission to revive, preserve, and disseminate the spiritual heritage of the ancient sage Maharshi Markandeya, a revered Vedic rishi known for bringing Hinduism to Bali. The foundation is based in Bali and aims to bridge ancient Indian and Indonesian wisdom for the well-being of future generations.
The name reflects its purpose:
Yayasan (foundation), Kepustakaan (library or body of literature), and Maharsi Markendeya—the sage whose legacy continues to influence Balinese Hindu culture and dharmic values to this day.
Guided by the motto “Jnana • Dharma • Karuna” (Wisdom • Righteousness • Compassion), the foundation seeks to:
